  4. Medical Examination
Candidates who clear the interview must pass a pre-employment medical examination conducted by NTPC’s medical board. The medical standards are defined on the NTPC website.

12. Frequently asked questions

I am a fresh B.Tech graduate. Can I apply?
No. This recruitment requires a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification executive work experience. Fresh graduates are not eligible for this particular post. Keep watching for NTPC Executive Trainee or Graduate Trainee notifications — those are designed for freshers.
I have 4 years of experience but only 1 year is in contracts and procurement. Am I eligible?
No. The requirement is minimum 4 years total experience in the power/oil/gas/steel sector, out of which at least 2 years must be specifically in contracts, purchase, stores, or procurement work. If you have only 1 year in that area, you do not meet the eligibility condition.
I have experience in the IT or banking sector. Does that count?
Most likely no. NTPC has specifically mentioned Power, Oil, Gas, and Steel sectors as the valid experience sectors for this post. Experience in IT, banking, FMCG, or other sectors may not be considered relevant. Check the official notification for the exact wording before applying.
Will there definitely be a written test?
Not necessarily. NTPC will decide based on the number of applications received. If the number of shortlisted candidates is very high, they may conduct a written test or CBT before the interview. If the numbers are manageable, they may go directly to the personal interview stage.
Can women apply? Is there any fee for women?
Yes, women are fully eligible to apply. Female candidates of all categories — General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS — are exempted from the application fee. No payment is required for female candidates.
What is the in-hand salary after joining NTPC as an E2 engineer?
The basic pay starts at ₹50,000 per month in the E2 grade. After adding Dearness Allowance, HRA, and other allowances, the estimated total in-hand salary is approximately ₹75,000 to ₹95,000 or more per month, depending on your posting location. The exact amount varies based on applicable DA rates and location.
I scored 58% in my B.Tech. Am I eligible?
No. The minimum required is 60% marks in your B.E./B.Tech degree for General, OBC, and EWS candidates. 58% does not meet this requirement. SC/ST and PwBD candidates may get a relaxation — check the official notification for your exact category.
Where can I find the official notification PDF?
The official notification PDF is available on the NTPC careers portal at careers.ntpc.co.in. Look for Advertisement No. 06B/26. Always download and read the full notification before applying.
