The post of Engineer (Contracts & Materials) is an executive-level position in the E2 grade. In this role, you will work on:

Important — this is NOT a fresher job: This recruitment requires a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification executive work experience. Fresh graduates who have just completed their B.Tech are not eligible. You must already be working as an engineer in the power, oil, gas, or steel sector.

5. Educational qualification
You must have a full-time B.E. or B.Tech degree in one of the following engineering disciplines from a recognised University or Institution, with a minimum of 60% marks:

8. Selection process
The selection for NTPC Engineer (Contracts & Materials) 2026 is a multi-stage process:

Application Shortlisting
NTPC will screen all applications based on your educational qualification percentage, number of years of post-qualification experience, and relevance of experience. Not all who apply will be called for the next stage. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed. -
Written Test or Computer Based Test (CBT) — if required
NTPC may conduct a written exam or CBT depending on the number of applications received. This is not confirmed — it depends on how many people apply. If the number of shortlisted candidates is manageable, NTPC may skip this stage and go directly to the interview. -
Personal Interview

Medical Examination

I am a fresh B.Tech graduate. Can I apply?
No. This recruitment requires a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification executive work experience. Fresh graduates are not eligible for this particular post. Keep watching for NTPC Executive Trainee or Graduate Trainee notifications — those are designed for freshers.
I have 4 years of experience but only 1 year is in contracts and procurement. Am I eligible?
