10. Frequently asked questions

What is the CAT exam? Is it the same as CAT for MBA?
No. CIPET’s CAT stands for CIPET Admission Test — it is completely different from the CAT exam used for MBA admissions. CIPET CAT is a separate entrance test specifically for admission to CIPET’s diploma and post-diploma programmes in Plastics Technology. It is held on 07 June 2026 at centres across India.
I scored 55% in Class 10. Can I apply for the 3-year Diploma (DPMT or DPT)?
For General, OBC, and EWS candidates, the minimum is 60% marks in Class 10 with Science and Maths. 55% does not meet this requirement for General category. However, if you are an SC/ST candidate belonging to the state where your chosen CIPET campus is located, 50% marks are sufficient — so 55% would make you eligible in that case.
I am in the final year of my Diploma. Can I apply for the Post Diploma course (PD-MWD with CAD/CAM)?
Yes. CIPET specifically mentions that final year students who are appearing for their final exam and are expecting results can also apply for the Post Diploma and PGD-PPT courses. You can apply now and submit your final result later.
What kind of jobs do CIPET diploma holders get?
CIPET diploma graduates are recruited by companies in the plastics, packaging, automotive, consumer goods, and polymer manufacturing industries. Job roles include Mould Designer, Plastics Technician, Production Engineer (Trainee), Quality Control Officer, and similar positions. CIPET’s placement track record is strong, and companies visit campuses specifically to hire CIPET students.
Are the CIPET courses approved by any official body?
Yes. All CIPET diploma and post-diploma courses listed in this admission are AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) approved. This means the degree/diploma is officially recognised and accepted by employers and institutions across India.
Is hostel accommodation available at all CIPET campuses?
CIPET provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. However, availability varies by campus. Contact your preferred CIPET campus directly to confirm hostel availability and fees before applying.
Can I get an education loan for CIPET courses?
Yes. CIPET facilitates education loans through nationalised banks. You can approach the CIPET campus office for guidance on which bank to approach and how to apply for an education loan for your course fees.
How many CIPET campuses are there and which one should I choose?
CIPET has campuses in Chennai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Mysuru, Jaipur, Patna, and several other cities. Choose the campus closest to your home city or the one in the state you wish to study in. All CIPET campuses follow the same syllabus and qualification standards. Check the official website at www.cipet.gov.in for the full list of campuses.
